The Pandemic turbocharged the structural shift in where work takes place.

What really matters in remote work world is the amount of work done instead of number of hours worked. The right fit is not the one who comes to office on time, but the one who uses tools and apps to deliver highest performance.

Remote work eliminates the time wasted commuting to work. Remote work boosts flexibility as you don’t need to be physically co-located with fellow workers. For women in particular, remote work is a mixed blessing.

However, Zoom meetings created a fatigue that decreased the desire for collaboration and hindered productivity. Such a situation has laid a perfect playground for the rise of asynchronous collaboration tools like Slack, Loom, Google Workspace, Trello, and many others.

These tools can help teams to collaborate on their own time and produce quality work. Companies like remote.com, first base, coda, and base camp are building the Remote First Future. McKinsey reported that Finance and insurance have the highest potential for remote work without a loss of productivity.
